Quiz of the Month - Prize Terms

These terms apply to the Paramind Quiz of the Month and to any prize offered with it. By taking part you accept these terms. They sit alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. The promoter

The quiz is run by Paramind, the operator of paramind.co.uk. Paramind® is a registered UK trade mark (UK00004321918). Questions about the quiz or a prize should go through our contact page.

2. Who can enter

• Entry is open to registered Paramind users aged 18 or over who are resident in the United Kingdom.
• You need a Paramind account to enter, but entry is free and does not require a paid subscription. Free and Pro users compete on the same leaderboard.
• No purchase is necessary and buying a subscription does not improve your chance of winning.
• Employees of Paramind and their immediate families may play for fun but are not eligible for a prize.

3. How to enter

• Open the Quiz of the Month from the Practise menu during the calendar month in question and complete all ten questions.
• You get one attempt per month. Your attempt is recorded the moment you press START. If you close the quiz part-way through, or lose connection, that attempt is used and cannot be reset.
• Each question must be answered within ten seconds. If time runs out the question is marked incorrect.

4. How the winner is decided

This is a competition of skill and speed, not a game of chance.

• Your score is your total time, calculated as the time you took on the questions you answered correctly, plus a ten second penalty for every question you answered incorrectly or did not answer in time.
• The lowest total time wins. The leaderboard is ordered on that adjusted time.
• In the event of identical total times, the earlier completed entry wins.
• The promoter's decision is final. We may disqualify any entry we reasonably believe was obtained by interfering with the quiz, the timer or the leaderboard, or by using more than one account.

5. Closing date

Each monthly quiz closes at 23:59 UK time on the last day of that calendar month. Entries recorded after that point do not count towards that month's prize.

6. The prize

• The prize for each month is shown on the quiz page. Where no prize is shown, no prize is being offered for that month and the quiz is for fun and self-testing only.
• There is no cash alternative unless we state otherwise, and prizes are not transferable.
• We may substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable.
• Any tax or other liability arising from a prize is the winner's responsibility.

7. Claiming a prize

• We will contact the winner by email at the address registered to their Paramind account, normally within seven days of the month closing.
• If we cannot reach a winner, or a winner does not respond within 28 days, we may withdraw the prize and offer it to the next eligible entrant.
• We may ask a winner to confirm their identity and eligibility before releasing a prize.

8. Your name on the leaderboard

• Before you start, you can choose whether your first name appears on the public leaderboard. If you opt out, your entry still counts and is still ranked, but appears as "Anonymous".
• Where you have chosen to appear, the leaderboard shows your first name, and your grade and ambulance service if you have added them to your Paramind profile. It never shows your surname, email address or any clinical or learning data.
• You can change your mind at any time by contacting us, and we will anonymise your entry.
• To award a prize we need to match the winning entry to an account email address. That is done privately by the promoter and is never displayed on the site.

9. Educational content

Quiz questions cover recognition, interpretation and understanding only. They do not cover medicines, doses, treatment or clinical management. As with the rest of Paramind, the quiz is an educational tool and is not a source of guidance for patient care. For treatment and management you must refer to JRCALC and your own Trust's clinical guidelines.

10. Changes and cancellation

We may amend these terms, or vary, suspend or cancel a monthly quiz or prize, where it is reasonable to do so, for example because of a technical fault, abuse of the quiz, or circumstances outside our control. Where we do, we will publish the change on this page.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
